On December 21, 2021, the first student conference of Alterbridge University was held under the theme: “Legal Misconduct in Social Media.” The event was organized by the University’s academic staff and administrative team. In compliance with pandemic-related regulations, the conference was conducted in a hybrid format.
The participants were students of the first and second cohorts of the Master’s Program in Strategic Communication. They delivered presentations based on both Georgian and international case studies, covering such topics as:
-
The consequences of PR campaigns and advertising based on improper statements
-
Misuse of a competitor’s name
-
The use of social media reports as a tool to gain competitive advantage
-
The role of law in strategic communication
The conference was moderated by Mako Jaoshvili, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Head of the Master’s Program in Strategic Communication at Alterbridge University, and Sergi Jorbenadze, Lecturer of Marketing and Law within the same program.
Mr. Jorbenadze positively assessed the students’ papers and addressed questions raised during the panel discussion on key issues such as disinformation, the spread of “fake news,” and the protection of personal data.
The discussion proved highly productive, and the audience expressed strong interest in organizing a larger-scale student conference in the upcoming spring semester.
